Last month, a massive cyber attack targeted the Central Bank of Iran, according to a report by the Saudi-linked Iran International. The attack also impacted other banks, leading to major disruptions in the Islamic Republic's banking sector. This is reportedly among the largest cyber breaches the country has ever experienced.
According to the report, hackers stole information from account holders in Iran's largest bank, along with other financial institutions.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has emphasized that striking back against Israel is a religious duty, as Tehran holds Israel responsible for the July 31 assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
While Iran has asserted that Israel's strength is not as great as perceived, the unclaimed cyberattack exposes the regime's weaknesses.
Notes mocking the regime were placed on ATM machines by anonymous activists. The message stated, "Dear customers, money withdrawals are unavailable as Iran's entire budget and resources have been invested in the war to serve the corrupt Islamic Republic regime."
